This mountain has a wide variety of fauna and flora, with the wild boar, roe deer and wolf standing out in terms of fauna. As for vegetation, the highlight is the black oak, which covers an area of 6500 hectares. Hence, it is known as the largest black oak grove in the world. You can visit, at the top of the mountain, the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Serra, built in honor of Santa Teresinha.
Azibo
It is one of the most visited places in the entire Northeast of Trás-os-Montes. An immense lake, where the protection of species converge, with a network of signposted paths, which are the delight of hiking and mountain biking enthusiasts, and two beaches successively awarded the Blue Flag: Praia da Fraga da Pegada and Praia da Ribeira. One, the river bathing area with the most Blue Flags in all of Europe, the other, one of the 7 Wonders, Beaches of Portugal.
Podence ( typical village – caretos)
Located in Trás-os-Montes, municipality of Macedo de Cavaleiros. The historical heritage, mostly of a religious nature, goes through the Baroque and Neoclassical periods and reaches the 20th century. The Caretos Carnival party preserves the specificity of Trás-os-Montes life and is today one of the last strongholds of an endangered way of life.
